How do we change the societal equation in the tech industry schoolyard? We tend to reward societal capital to folks who are ex Social Network A, or ex Data Seller B. How can we reward those who’re heads down working on Health Issue A with societal capital?
I spend a lot of time thinking about how much cultural, community, and familial knowledge is locked behind walled gardens. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. In previous generations, knowledge was passed down from person to person, from generation to generation. These days, that knowledge is stuck on platforms that may not exist in ten years, and who are not incentivized to let you keep your knowledge. How do I help people keep that knowledge across generations?
Over the last couple of years I've been meeting people informally to chat, as well as through a program called Out of Office Hours which was started by Dustin Senos. Whether they were conversations with people I already knew, friends, or otherwise, I've learned a lot about myself and others . Fred Oliveria has been doing something similar and highly recommended it.

I adopted this sweet, playful, lovely rescue dog in November 2020. I called her Nancy Drew out of the love for detective novels born after I moved to the States. She has taught me more about myself in the last year than I’ve known about myself in the last ten. @nancydrewpetdetective
